Seenfold vs SideShift

By SeenfoldUpdated 6 min read

SideShift and Seenfold both end with creators making short videos for your brand, but they sell different things. SideShift is software you subscribe to for recruiting and running user-generated content creators: you hire, brief and pay them, and the platform handles contracts, tracking and payouts. Seenfold sells distribution by the view: you buy verified views a month, and independent creators clip your footage and post it from their own accounts.

If you want a SideShift alternative because what you need is reach rather than a hiring tool, here are the two side by side, from SideShift's own public pages. SideShift is the better answer for a lot of brands, and we say which.

How SideShift works

SideShift's home page describes it as one place to "Recruit UGC creators, manage campaigns, track results, and pay them automatically". The headline promise is "Get 50+ qualified creator applications for your brand in 24 hours". It cites "3,000+ Brands Actively hiring" and "1M+ Creators Already onboarded", and browses creators across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and Facebook.

Its own FAQ answers the money question directly. Asked "Does SideShift cost money?" it says: "Yes. From $299/mo for the platform: hiring, campaigns, payments, and analytics in one place. Your creator budget is separate and fully yours. You set it and decide what each creator earns. Payouts carry a 3% processing fee."

The pricing page lists four plans. The three self-serve plans each start with a 7-day free trial. Starter covers "your first five creators", with 1 job listing and 30 invites. Growth runs up to 15 creators and 2 listings. Scale is "high-volume, no agency": no cap on creators and unlimited invites. Enterprise is "We run it", booked on a call, where a campaign manager "Hires the creators, writes the briefs, sets pay", and where "Winning videos go to your ad account, full usage rights". That last line matters here: SideShift is oriented around content you commission and own.

How Seenfold works

Seenfold is self-serve clipping with a published rate card. You choose the views you want a month, from 500,000 up, and a term of 1, 3 or 6 months: $1.50 per 1,000 verified views on 1 month, $1.27 on 3 months, $1.05 on 6 months, billed monthly by card. Plans renew for a new term of the same length at the same rate, unless Seenfold emails a new rate at least 30 days before the term ends. A Tier 1 audience preference (audiences mostly in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Australia; a preference, not a guarantee) adds $0.40 per 1,000, and your logo on every clip adds $0.30.

You pay, upload your footage and write a short brief: what goes in every caption, and what is off limits. Independent creators clip it and post it from their own accounts on TikTok, Instagram and YouTube. Every clip and its views show on your dashboard, and any clip can be taken down from there. Where they differ

Content you own, or distribution you buy

This is the real split. SideShift gets creators making videos to your brief, with contracts and usage rights in the platform, so the winners can go into your ad account. Seenfold gets footage you already have in front of audiences: the clips live on creators' own accounts, and you are buying the views they earn. Neither replaces the other, and plenty of brands use both.

What the fee is for

SideShift's fee is for the software: from $299 a month for the platform, with your creator budget separate and a 3% processing fee on payouts. Seenfold has no subscription; the rate per 1,000 verified views is the whole price, from $750 a month at the 500,000 view minimum.

Who does the hiring, and how results are measured

On SideShift's self-serve plans you post the listing, read the applications, pick the creators, write the briefs and set the pay, and your cost per view depends on what you agreed with each one. Its Enterprise plan hands that work to a campaign manager. On Seenfold nobody on your side hires anyone: you write the brief once, and the unit is the verified view at a published rate, with 30 days a month to deliver, shortfalls rolling forward, and anything undelivered at the end refunded, except a first month where no footage arrives.

When SideShift is the better choice

  • You want usage rights and content for your ad account. Its Enterprise plan puts winning videos in your ad account with full usage rights.
  • You want to spend less to start, or you need Facebook. Its plans begin with a 7-day free trial, the platform fee starts from $299 a month, and it lists Facebook; Seenfold does not post there.

When Seenfold is the better choice

  • You already have the footage. Podcasts, streams, launches: the raw material exists and just needs to travel.
  • You want views, not videos. The unit you buy is 1,000 verified views.
  • Nobody on your team can run a hiring pipeline. No listings to write and no applications to read.
  • You want a single all-in price, and shortfalls handled. No subscription and no separate creator budget; views still owed roll forward and undelivered views are refunded when the plan ends.

Questions

Is Seenfold an alternative to SideShift?

Only for part of what SideShift does. SideShift is a subscription platform for recruiting, briefing and paying user-generated content creators. Seenfold sells distribution of footage you already have, priced by the verified view. If you want new videos you own, SideShift is the right tool.

What does SideShift cost?

Its FAQ says "From $299/mo for the platform: hiring, campaigns, payments, and analytics in one place," that your creator budget is separate and set by you, and that payouts carry a 3% processing fee. Plans start with a 7-day free trial, and the Enterprise plan is priced on a call.

What does Seenfold cost?

$1.50 per 1,000 verified views on a 1 month plan, $1.27 on 3 months and $1.05 on 6 months, billed monthly, from 500,000 views a month. That is $750 a month on 1 month. See the rates.

Do I get usage rights to the clips Seenfold creators post?

Seenfold sells distribution, not owned creative. Clips are posted by independent creators on their own accounts, and any clip can be taken down from your dashboard. If you need videos you own and can run as ads, a platform built for commissioned content is a better fit.

Do I have to hire anyone to use Seenfold?

No. There are no listings to post and no applications to read. You upload your footage, write a short brief, and the creators are found and paid for you.
